First in Japan! Woman Receives Master Certification in Calligraphy from Leading ZEN Painter and Calligrapher

Obtained Master’s Certificate in Calligraphy from Soun Takeda.
Master certification in Suiboku-ga (ink painting) from Tohun Kobayashi.

ZEN Painting What is Suiboku-ga?

It was born in China, and when it came to Japan, it took 1,300 years to make its own progress. It was influenced by the Samurai, whose way of life always depended on life and death. A person who sharpens a sword is called a master.

Sword sharpening is a very different process from sharpening other cutlery. Swords, which take human lives, have a beauty that seems to contradict itself. It is scary but beautiful. People who bring out such beauty in swords and sharpen swords have been treated as Masters since the time of the Samurai.
